Talked to my dad today. He was laughing about our dear little Alexander Wyant and his love for telling the same joke - over and over and over again. He cracks himself up when he tells his joke and everyone laughs not necessarily at the joke but at the way he cracks himself up. In any event, Xander reminded daddy of an Uncle Doyle story.....the preacher came to their house one day and when the preacher asked little Doyle how his mom (Grandma Wyant) was, he said, "she drinks, smokes, cusses and chews." Daddy cracked up laughing at Doyle and I had to laugh at the enjoyment he got from his brother all these years later. I have a feeling Uncle Doyle was not laughing when Grandma found out what he said. He most likely became acquainted with a switch from the old tree in the back yard.
I hope that this year we all have lots of opportunities to laugh and just crack up at the humor in something daily. Daddy always told me when I was younger, "He who laughs, lasts." It's a pretty good little standard to remember. Happy New Year to everyone in my family. Haven't we been blessed this year?
